Terragen Tutorial for beginners using version 9

Terragen Terrain interface
This is the first thing you see when you open Terragen.
Take a Good Look at it, cause it's going to be your Teacher.

There are THREE BUTTONS that you need to know.

Generate Terrain-View/Sculpt and Modify.

Click on the Generate Terrain and this (below) screen will open. Now don't panic! Many a person have quit here cause they just felt overwhelmed by all the sliders.
I will do my best to baby step you through this "monster." Terrain Interface
First lets leave the Method alone.

Second lets talk about the Settings. This seems complex for many.

Realism-means, what you are looking at is REAL or not.

Smoothing- means, do you want a smooth surface or rough.

Glaciation-means EEK! This bad boy can give you mountains, spikes and headaches!

Glacier means white to me and it is the higher level of the surface.
This has to work with Canyonism.

Canyonism-means, lower terrain, flat surface. You will find Canyonism color to be in the grays or black.

Size of Feature- OK, this is where you decide what you want for mountains, valleys or what I call rocks and flat surface.

The Min says you want less (height) in your mountains (Glaciation).

The Max says you want more (height)in your mountains and (less) in you (Canyonism).

Modify- I use this for lower the Mountains. I usual don't set the number higher than 5.
Terrain Modify
Don't worry about this one. You have enough on your plate, but I did want you to know what this was for.

Now it's time to go to work on this.
