Terragen Tutorial for Beginners.
I used version 9 with this Tutorial.

Ok,lets work on JUST Generating a Terrain.
Terrain Setting
I did the settings for you to Start. NOW See the generate button on the bottom left corner? Go ahead and click on it. This is what you should see.

Generated Terrain

You should also see this screen.
Render Control

The three prong arrow in the view box is your play toy.
The line in the middle of the prong is your focal point. When you point the head of the pointer, that is what I call "my standing point" looking out.
When reversed, I'm looking in.

view/sculpt screen

When you generate a terrain it will show up in the view/sculpt screen. In this screen you get a bigger view of the terrain you are looking at and be able to place the three prong arrow where you want.

When you find something you feel is OK, go back to the Render screen.

render screen

You see where it says "detail and there's a slider next to it? I usually leave it in the middle so my renders don't take so long, but if you want to see the "real image, slide the slider all the way to the right.
Just above the slider is the render preview box, under it is a button that says "render preview," click on it to see your image.
If you don't like it, keep messing with the arrow settings.

Now you're going to ask about the sun, clouds and such. Well here's where I turn you over to Carol Brooksbank and her tutorials should get you going from there.

Don't hesitate to call on me for help with this tutorial, remember it is just for the beginning.
